Solano County is located approx. 45 miles northeast of San Francisco & 45 miles southwest of Sacramento.

The County covers 823 sq. miles, a majority of which lies in the Sacramento Valley. It is bordered by Napa, Yolo, Sacramento and Contra Costa Counties. The County serves seven jurisdictions: Benicia, Dixon, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Suisun City, Vacaville and Vallejo in addition to the unincorporated areas.

The County was formed in 1850.  The City of Fairfield is the County Seat.
